How to Interpret the Resolution of Embedded High-Brightness Displays?
Key Considerations
Embedded high-brightness displays are now used extensively in industrial IoT applications, especially in urban infrastructure such as intelligent transportation and rail transit. The display resolution (screen resolution) of an embedded high-brightness display is the precision of the screen image, referring to the number of pixels the display can show.

Since the points, lines, and images on the screen are all composed of pixels, the more pixels an embedded high-brightness display can show, the finer the picture, and the more information can be displayed within the same screen area. Resolution is therefore one of the most important performance indicators. The entire image can be regarded as a large board, and the resolution is expressed as the number of intersections of all vertical and horizontal lines.
For a given display resolution, the smaller the embedded high-brightness display, the sharper the image; conversely, for a given display size, the higher the display resolution, the sharper the image. Size and resolution also contribute to the overall readability of an industrial touch display.
Improvements in liquid crystal materials have also made it possible to expand the temperature range of LCDs. Nowadays, many LCDs achieve a temperature variation range of -10°C to 70°C. When selecting a touch display for use in a manufacturing environment, other less obvious characteristics also need to be considered.

For example, minimizing downtime is important. To maximize availability, choose high-quality touch screen displays whenever possible. For on-site repairs, it is important to carry spare parts rather than sending equipment out for external repair. Industrial touch displays also require a long product life cycle; if the manufacturer discontinues a model, the touch screen should be compatible with existing sealed enclosures without requiring a redesign of the entire system.
Touch panel displays are usually embedded in sealed enclosures as part of large equipment. In these cases, the temperature is affected by the heat generated inside the sealed enclosure and by peripheral equipment. Therefore, keeping the actual storage and operating temperature requirements in mind is very important when selecting a touch display. In portrait or landscape mode, a single display can show longer signal waveforms and more data.

These industrial touch displays are designed with touch key functions integrated into the surface of the display. Users can view data on a portrait or landscape display, or switch to a display with a standard aspect ratio that integrates touch panel functionality. This new advanced feature is very helpful for simplifying the user interface. LCDs are more resistant to temperature changes, impacts, and vibration than CRTs.
Operating at storage temperature is also a major variable when selecting an industrial touch display. For example, measures such as using fans inside sealed enclosures can dissipate the generated heat, but choosing the touch display best suited to these environments is the most effective way to meet storage and operating temperature requirements.
